Eco-Centre
Because we enjoy living in a beautiful place we think it is really important to protect it. We want you (and lots of new friends that we haven’t met yet) to enjoy it for many years to come so we thought we’d better not destroy it and start protecting it. That’s why we have started taking steps to reduce our environmental impact and you can try them out whilst you stay at the Centre.

We’ve made so many improvements we are very proud of our Eco-Centre Award and Green Business Tourism Scheme Gold Award. We're also listed on the Green Tourism Advice website.
Some of our achievements include:Saving Our Energy
We aim to reduce our energy use by 5% every year. In order to do this we buy green energy, use solar panels to generate our own energy. Check how much energy we produce in different weather conditions.

Home cooked meals straight from the farm
Lee and our team of top chefs have chucked out the frozen meals (and an old inefficient freezer as well) and have committed hours preparing home cooked meals using local and organic produce wherever possible. This helps Farmer Mike over at Beeson with local consumers for his organic veg including winter broccoli and summer strawberries.

Green Gifts
We’ve made a choice on your behalf by deciding not to sell things in the shop that aren’t green (not in colour but in ethics). So now you can buy notebooks, gifts and confectionary that is recycled, organic, locally made or fairly traded.

Compost Loo
The Nitrate Problem
The nitrate problem causes algae and eutrophication in the Ley. So we decided to build a composting loo that doesn’t use water and consequently doesn’t contribute sewage or nitrates to our rivers or coast. Give it a go - it’s a memorable experience!
We don’t think there is anything particularly special or clever about what we do apart from the fact that we keep thinking about it and trying to come up with new ideas to reduce our impact. You can do some of these things at home and hopefully come up with even better ideas. If you do please share them with us!
