Research and Monitoring

With a wide range of locations and more than 50 years experience at some of the field centres, the Field Studies Council has for many years been involved in environmental research and monitoring. Research takes many forms but often depends on specific staff interests and local environments.

A number of centres set up, some years ago, fixed transect lines across selected habitats. The data from these are regularly collected so that data sets may be available. FSC staff also undertake contract work to survey and monitor local areas, including in the last few years work for English Nature, the Countryside Council for Wales and local authorities.
