Geology

For over 60 years, FSC has been providing fieldwork and first hand learning in the outdoors to students of all ages.

The choice is yours

All courses are pre-negotiated with you and designed to meet your specific requirements. Courses cover a wide range of rock types, periods and environments of deposition. They also cover appropriate geological principles and fieldwork techniques for students undertaking coursework to meet specification requirements for GCSE and A level. FSC centres constantly review, update and develop courses to match specification requirements and in response to feedback from teachers and students, and information from Awarding Bodies.

Individual investigations

As well as teaching geology in the field, FSC courses may be designed to prepare students for their individual coursework investigations. Throughout the course, students are encouraged to record their observations and consider the different types of data that can be collected in the field, and ways in which to present and interpret these data. The FSC has agreed access to all field sites and all these sites have been risk assessed to ensure safety.

Topics to Choose From

FSC staff have developed a wide variety of themes and topics to meet the demands of the specifications and to develop students’ practical skills and understanding. Each of the following centres offer residential and day courses in geology in areas with spectacular geology field sites, just click on the centres for further information on the topics available.
