FSC ‘Stepping Stones’ in Geography Fieldwork
Our fieldwork programmes in geography are available at primary, all secondary, A-level and university level. Therefore, they offer the opportunity to build skills, knowledge and understanding of geography in a progressive programme of fieldwork, using a variety of contrasting environments across a network of FSC day and residential centres.
KS2/3 Transition
Carrying out a simple geography fieldwork investigation, looking at how people and the environment interact in a designated environment. Developing map and geography fieldwork skills in a rural village, market town, at the coast or in the mountains.
Outdoor Geography Fieldwork
Exciting ways of providing a practical dimension to National Curriculum geography through fieldwork. This could be achieved through one of our new KS3 geography fieldwork programmes to look at the impacts of tourism at a honey-pot site.
GCSE / KS4 Developing Geography Enquiry Skills
Students can use this FSC geography fieldwork programme to carry out group investigations for their GCSE coursework enquiry in one or more environments. They can also see geography ‘come alive’ by observing and learning about key features in the field
Post 16 Developing research skills
Students can use a longer FSC geography fieldwork programme to develop investigative skills in a number of contrasting environments. This can be used for project work, an applied skills exam, or to bolster case study knowledge.
